Your Daily Dose of “Awwww!”: Queen Elizabeth + Prince Philip, Then and Now
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, then and now. Adorable? Adorable!
Because it’s Friday, and you deserve it: Is this not one of the most adorable things you’ve ever seen? This is Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, then and now—and my goodness, but aren’t they a cute couple!
Full disclosure: This isn’t actually a new image. The top photograph was taken on the grounds of Broadlands in Hampshire during their honeymoon in November of 1947; the second, taken on the same spot, recreated the original photo in November of 2007 as they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The image resurfaced on Reddit a few days ago, no doubt in honor of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; and even though it’s a few years old, we still think it’s worth sharing. Awwww!
60 years of marriage is nothing to sneeze at—especially if you’re the reigning monarch of a major world power. And you know what? They look just as happy now as they did then. And that’s awesome.
The Queen just wrapped up her Diamond Jubilee celebration, marking her 60th year (there’s that number again!) on the throne. Unfortunately Prince Philip ended up in the hospital this week with a pretty bad bladder infection, so he missed out on a bunch of his wife’s festivities; happily, though, he’s been improving steadily over the past few days, and he was at least able to catch the Jubilee on television.
Say it with me one more time: Awwww!
