Would You Spend $800 on Baby Booties? Beyonce Did!
Beyonce’s Baby Blue Ivy’s booties are covered in Swarovski crystals.
Oh to be the child of zillionaires! Beyonce commissioned shoe designer Ruthie Davis to make a pair of booties for 8-month-old Blue Ivy. The pink leather shoes have lavender laces and are encusted with Swarovski crystals. The designer posted the photo on her Facebook page:
She wrote, “Pssssst! Take a look at the Baby Ruthie’s I made especially for Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy…SO Sweet, right?”
Oh they’re sweet all right. Sweet to the tune of $800. It’s a good thing that Blue Ivy isn’t at the walking stage, otherwise those blinged-out shoes would be less sparkly after a few steps.
These aren’t the only high-end shoes in little Blue Ivy’s collection. According to the Daily Mail, she’s also the proud owner of Marc by Marc Jacobs Mouse shoes (adult price $250) and Jeremy Scott x Adidas J wings ($189 for adults).
Yes, these shoes are totes adorb, but worth $800? Um, no. If you wanted to make them for yourself, you could pick up a package of rhinestones for $2.39 from Joann Fabrics and baby booties for $9.99 from amazon.com. The same look for only $12.38.
Was Beyonce smart for not gluing her fingers together attempting to do the booties herself, or just blowing money on shoes her baby may never wear? Me, I’d make the shoes and take the $787.62 and buy something cute for myself.
