Don’t worry, we didn’t forget to give you this month’s update on what we learned about guys from their own magazines. We admit, we were a little preoccupied with our trip to Las Vegas, where it turns out you can learn a lot about the opposite sex. But, you should know by now that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
So, for the gems about men that can only be found within the pages of GQ, Maxim, Men’s Health, and more, just keep reading. We promise what we found when reading these is just as juicy as what we discovered in Sin City.
Read What We Learned From Men’s Magazines in June
1. They want a summer fling just as much as we do.
We girls know all too well that nothing beats a steamy summer fling. ‘Tis the season of love-‘em-and-leave-‘em sex, where we get to roll around on the beach with a guy we have no intention of speaking to come September. It’s a nice little setup, and guys are in favor of it, too. In her monthly sex column for Maxim, Gillian Telling gives guys all the right pointers for securing their own summer fling in “Some Like It Hot.” She correctly informs them that if they’re caught coating their nose in white sunblock or boogie boarding at the beach, the girls looking for summer lovin’ will run far, far away. However, if they play volleyball with no shirt on or roll up their shirtsleeves, a la Matthew McConaughey, it’s fling on!
2. They have longer sex lives… if they’re in shape.
According to a statistic in Men’s Fitness in the section “What Matters To Men,” research from the University of Chicago proves that “guys who stay fit have better sex lives, gaining up to seven years of ‘sexually active life’ over their flabby peers.” But, wait a minute, are guys that are in shape having longer sex lives because they’re healthier, or is it because they’re the only ones women want to have sex with for more than a year or two? Betcha didn’t think of that, University of Chicago! Don’t you know that the longevity of a guy’s sex life is solely up to us?

3. They think they’re so tough, until they go soft.
In Details’ “Lord of the Ring,” Ivan Solotaroff’s interview with Mike Tyson, the former fighter admits he’s not such a tough guy anymore who bites people’s ears off. In fact, he’s a vegan now who’s all about giving. “The first stage of my life was just a whole bunch of selfishness,” he tells Solotaroff. “‘Greatest man on the planet?’ I wasn’t half the man I thought I was. So, if there’s a big plan now, it’s just to give—it’s selflessness, caring for the people who deserve it. Because I think I’m a pig.”
Hey there, Tyson, don’t knock yourself too hard! You did a bang up job in The Hangover that you can at least be proud of!
