What My Kids and I Learned from the Movies
It's not all about spending $40 on bad seats and stale popcorn. Families can take away some valuable lessons, too.

As we sweat through this uncommonly hot summer, my children and I have been turning to the movies as a welcome escape. Normally, I don’t like them spending a lot of their free time in front of a screen, but I ease my guilt by reminding myself that today’s family fare always comes with an Important Message that will make us all Wiser about the Ways of Life. So here’s what both I and two kids have learned along the way from both new releases and classic favorites. Maybe you’ll learn a little something, too:

I like to see the positive in family movies, too. My girls see the entertainment first, but we all know there is a lesson to take from it.

My family and I enjoyed Despicable Me. It did have a good lesson.
