What Is The Man Code and Are All The “Good” Men Taken?
Reality star David Good has a new book every woman should read!
-Shayla C. Perry
If most of the guys you’ve dated seem to live and die by two rules: One, the first rule of Fight Club is that no one talks about Fight Club, and two, bros always come before hoes, you may be surprised to learn that there are actually men out there with a more sensible code of conduct that puts integrity and respect for women above all else.
That unwritten edict is what David Good of ABC’s The Bachelorette and winner of The Bachelor Pad refers to as “The Man Code,” and in his new book, The Man Code: A Woman’s Guide to Cracking the Tough Guy, Good aims to help women better understand the men we love (and the ones we probably shouldn’t) in order to get the most out of our relationships.
But if you’re not in a relationship, or in one with the wrong guy, you’re probably wondering: Where are all of these men with such great morals? We caught up with David Good during his book tour and he filled us in on the fundamentals of The Man Code, how to find the guys that abide by it, and why you may be overlooking them in your search for love. Warning: Brutal honesty to follow.
For the record, how would you define the Man Code?
The Man Code is an unwritten set of rules that governs the way a man acts and treats women and other people in his life.
Integrity, and morals, and common sense have a lot to do with the Man Code. Everybody—well, most people are raised with some sort of moral code, or you have an understanding of what is right and what is wrong. It’s just being able to make those decisions on a daily basis and trying to base your life around integrity and morals; some kind of code; some kind of rules that you’ve set up.
