I’m not going to say music can make or break your night in the bedroom because that’d be a lie. If Katy Perry agreed to hook-up with me under the condition we could only listen to Chuck Berry’s “My Ding-a-Ling”, Paris Hilton’s “Stars are Blind”, and the “Macarena” all night long on loop, I’d be down. Sign me up right now and hand me over a pair of earplugs, please.

There is something to be said, however, for powerful, sexual songs. For one thing, they can make good nights between the sheets even more memorable. Any time I hear Justin Timberlake’s “LoveStoned / I Think She Knows (Interlude)” I’m taken back to the Beacon Hill bedroom of a girl I hooked up with during the spring of 2007. I remember her rooftop party, the way she came alive in her all white sheets when JT’s song started, and the sausage and egg breakfast she made the following morning. She clearly knew the importance of setting the right mood and had a solid mix of up-tempo songs with slower ones like “Slow Motion” by David Gray. I appreciated her effort and enjoyed the whole experience that much more.
