Well, Now I Have Been to New York City

And I see why everyone loves it!

-Candace Cavanaugh Buehner

New YorkMea culpa, Big Apple.

According to Wikipedia (always my first source for information easily retrieved, if not completely accurate), the Latin phrase "mea culpa" has become a fancier way to say, in common Western parlance, "My mistake".

Or, in my case, "Sorry I was such an eejit about New York City."

You see, no sooner than a day after I hit "send" on my last blogging entry - an entire piece that professed my lack of caring over the odd fact that I had never been to visit Manhattan, Brooklyn or any of the other boroughs - I received a call that a) in less than a week, there was going to be a meeting on a file that I handle for work, b) I would have to attend the meeting in person, and c) the meeting was going to be, you guessed it, just a few blocks from Grand Central Terminal in the heart of New York City.

My meeting was a few days ago, I'm back home in Michigan, and although I would have to say that the "King Kong on the Empire State Building" pencils I brought back were a huge hit in my house, the best souvenir I have from my trip is a new perspective, and not just because my meeting was on the "70-something-th" floor of a NYC skyscraper.

This article made me smile - I grew up in NYC and take pride in being a New Yorker. I know it can be scary for someone who has never been, but it's a wonderful place with terrific food and entertainment and the best part is you never have to see the same attraction twice! I'm showing my boyfriend's family around the city this weekend for the first time and can't wait (they're from Texas).

Oh and you can find cute rain boots at Target.com (http://www.target.com/Rain-Boots-Womens-Shoes/b/ref=nav_t_spc_5_54/181-2535820-1006258?ie=UTF8&node=13913321) or DSW.com (http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/collection.jsp?searchType=category&level2=dsw10cat70019&category=dsw10cat70019&level1=cat20173&level0=cat10006)

Living in NYC was one of the best life choices I've ever made. Nowhere will you experience as many different cultures, people and adventures. I don't live there anymore, but I reminisce about it almost daily.
