Happy Friday, Bettys! Since Friday seems like a good time for a little Queen action, let’s kick off the day with a video, shall we? This one features Jack Black performing an enthusiastic rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” with the band the Protomen in Tennessee—and accidentally breaking his microphone stand in the process. Whoops. Take a look and a listen! The magic starts at around the four minute mark, and the mic mishap kicks in at about 5:40. Jack makes an “Ack!” face at 5:47 that’s a little bit priceless:

Though the Protomen are best known for their concept albums based on the Mega Man video game series (nerd rock for the win!), they’ve also been known to cover a lot of hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s—including, of course, Queen. In fact, they just released an album on June 1 called Present: A Night of Queen, which—as you might have guessed—consists entirely of Queen covers. Not only that, but it’s a live album to boot: It was recorded on December 10, 2010 when the band performed a Queen and Black Sabbath tribute show in Nashville, TN. Fun? Just a bit!

For the video above, the Protomen returned to the venue at which they performed their Present: A Night of Queen concert in honor of the album’s release—and this time, they brought Tenacious D, AKA Jack Black and Kyle Gass with them. So go on. Rock out. Get some headbanging going on there, even if you have to break a mic stand or two to do it. TGIF!
