This article is inspired by two things: the recent article posted on CollegeCandy called “Dude’s List: Top 11 Reasons He’s Happy He’s a He Instead of a She,” and the fact that one too many of my girlfriends have said to me lately, “It sucks being a girl.”

Oh, really? Let me remind you of 11 amazing things you dudes and disheartened ladies may have forgotten. Here’s why being a female is simply, unequivocally awesome:

1. Makeup!
Unlike men who wake up and look the same every single day, we have the luxury and privilege to experiment, camouflage, and highlight our best features with makeup. One minute we look like the sweet, sun kissed girl next door with the glossy lips – the next, we’re the sexy siren with the come-hither eyes.

2. Um hello, free stuff?
Sure, we’ll take that free drink at the bar. Oh, we don’t have to pay cover? And we get the first available cab and an extra scoop of ice cream at Pinkberry because we winked? How does that song go? “I enjoy being a girl…”

3. Boobs
I don’t know if you guys know this, but breasts are pretty amazing. Scratch that, they’re exquisite, no matter their shape or size. And we get to play with them, whenever and wherever we want.

4. Legs for Days
Speaking of body parts, now’s the time of year when we get to show off more of our beautiful assets that leave men weak in the knees: our legs. Skirts, shorts, dresses, bathing suits – you name it, we’re wearing them to show our beautiful stems off. No one wants to see anything on a guy above his knees. Really, dude working out in hot pants. No one.

5. Nice things.
Why do we have such nice apartments, with such beautiful furniture and clean counters and bathrooms? Oh that’s right, because we don’t like living in our own filth, unlike our male counterparts. That’s why many guys don’t have nice things until a woman enters the picture.

I think men still have it easier in many ways, but I wouldn't trade being a woman for anything. Cute article. And som very valid points to embrace being a woman!

We get to wear beautiful dresses for special occasions (like the Oscars), while men have to all look alike with their boring tuxedos.

There is no way on earth I would prefer to be a man. Being a woman is the best! I get to go to all the fun stores, while he goes to stupid electronics and hardware stores. Not that I don't love electronics, but give me Sephora any day!

LOVE this post – it's about time we recognize how truly amazing we women are! In addition to this list of 11 fabulous reasons why it's awesome to be a woman, we have one more thing to add – vaginas. Yes ladies, vaginas. The vagina for so long has been a taboo, hush-hush subject, yet it is the source of life and something that deserves respect, not ridicule. Interestingly enough, according to a recent quantitative study conducted by Summer’s Eve, nearly 70 percent of women are unable to identify the five major parts of their female genitalia. A surprising statistic for sure, but understandablegiven society has conditioned us to not talk about the vagina. How do we understand and celebrate something we’re not talking about? Summer's Eve is aiming to change the conversation through a bold body awareness campaignlaunching this summer, and empower and educate women – teach them to understand their vaginas, so they can cherish their vaginas – because let's be honest, it's a pretty amazing part of being a woman! To know your body is to love it – keep an eye out for the campaign :)
