This Is the Wedding Ring Mark Zuckerberg Gave to Priscilla Chan
Curious what the ring Facebook mogul Mark Zuckerberg gave to his new bride, Priscilla Chan, looks like? Check out the pics here!
So remember at the beginning of the week when we learned about Mark Zuckerberg’s surprise wedding to Priscilla Chan? Remember how it was mentioned in most reports that Mark designed a ruby wedding ring for his new bride? Well, pictures have surfaced of it, and because I know how much you all love pretty things, I would like to take this opportunity to present them to you.
Here it is from a little bit of a distance:
And here’s a slightly grainy close-up of it:
From what we can see here, it looks pretty simple: The central ruby is flanked by two diamonds, and everything is set in a silver (or possibly white gold) band. As of Wednesday, TMZ didn’t know how much the ring cost; the Daily Mail, on the other hand, prices it at $25,000, though it’s anyone’s guess where they came up with that figure.
Some media outlets have accused the ring of being tiny and cheap-looking; but you know what? I think it’s kind of nice that Mark didn’t go off and design a super ostentatious ring for his wife. All that would have done is show off his own wealth, which would have made the whole thing feel kind of icky. Plus, bear in mind that Priscilla is a doctor. Gigantic rocks aren’t terribly practical for doctors who are always on the go, and Priscilla is a pediatrician to boot. Kids like shiny things, but it’s not usually a good idea to put massively-sized previous gems near them if it can be at all helped. This simple ruby ring seems perfect for her, so good on Mark for that.
Then again, I may be slightly biased, since I have a bit of a soft spot for unconventional wedding and engagement rings (Halle Berry’s emerald? Love it!).
Tell us: What do you think, Bettys? Love the ring or hate it?
