Picture this: you’re perched on a barstool in your flirtiest outfit and a pair of killer heels, but the guys around you are all duds. Bummer, huh?
We’ve all been there. But thanks to smart phones, hooking up with a local hottie has gotten almost too easy. Now, you can booty call a list of men in your immediate vicinity using your Apple device. With an app called Blendr, you can connect with other singles who share your common interests and immediate location.
Using the Blendr map, you can see which ready-to-mingle users are in the next bar over or at the restaurant around the corner. If you’re in a dead location, you have the option of following a “heat map”, which shows you where a greater volume of potential hookups are stationed. And if you’re traveling across country for the upcoming holidays, don’t think you’ll have to be stuck entertaining your great aunt every day: you can always update your location and meet a vacay partner… or two.
Read There's an App for That: Fake Girlfriend
For all of you non-Apple users out there, accessing the app is as simple as logging on to your Facebook page to connect with users through chat, picture shares, and location.
But if this all seems like the perfect program for serial killers and stalkers, don’t get majorly freaked just yet: privacy settings don’t tell hopefuls exactly where you are – it gives them a general distance away in feet. As an added precaution, you can always change your settings to make your profile invisible to certain users. So don’t worry –that creepy guy who’s twice your age doesn’t have to drool over your details and location. Eek!
While this app is new, the concept isn’t: gay guys already have Grindr, so we’re just being let in on the fun. Oh well –better late than never!
