‘The Rachel Zoe Project’s’ Jeremiah Brent: “It Was All Real”
‘The Rachel Zoe Project’s’ Jeremiah Brent dishes on Rachel, his firing, his re-hiring, and more– and, he says, it’s all real!
Jeremiah Brent’s back on Team Zoe! Fans across the country rejoiced last night during the season finale of Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project as a teary-eyed Rachel Zoe and husband Rodger Berman told the recently-fired Jeremiah that he was back on the team over a barbecue dinner. And lucky me– I got the chance to sit down and chat with Jeremiah about working with the incredible RZ, the details of his firing, and why his mom describes his style to be “like a homeless lesbian.”
Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got involved working with Rachel.
I grew up in Modesto, California, up north by San Francisco, and came out to LA when I was 19. I grew up in such a close family and space and knew everyone there, so I wanted to find myself and needed something different. LA was the right fit from day one. I worked with interior design and really wanted to get into fashion.
I had always been a huge fan of Rachel’s personally and on a professional level with her brand. A mutual friend let me know she was hiring and I jumped on it. Working for and with Rachel has been incredibly inspiring and amazing.
That leads me to the million-dollar question: what is it like to work with Rachel Zoe? It looks fabulous, but very chaotic!
It’s exactly like you just said: to sum it up, it’s organized chaos. It’s very back and forth, flying from New York to Los Angeles, staying busy all the time. But you get used to that pace because you’re doing something that you love and creating beauty. There’s absolutely no drama on the team, either; we all get along really well.
Is Rachel any less “go go go!” now that she’s the mom of baby Skyler?
Oh, Rachel will be “go go go” forever! First and foremost right now, she’s a mother. Skyler is always there with her and he’s her first priority. She brings him everywhere.
If it were possible to bring him along on the red carpet at the Oscars, she would!
You originally joined the team as a stylist, but then moved into working in your biggest passion, interior design. How did you show off your skills as an interior designer this season?
I was really lucky to do the interior design work, actually. I had to decorate her brand-new, 7,000-square-foot home in 10 days and started out with only three pieces of furniture– which was crazy, but super exciting, because that’s what I love doing. I also got to design the baby room for Skyler, which was huge, because it’s Rachel and Rodger’s first child. To be that involved with their baby is such a blessing to me.
Up next, Jeremiah dishes on his firing and re-hiring!
