You know, out of all the awards shows that happen during January and February, the one I’m most excited about isn’t the Golden Globes. It isn’t the BAFTAs. And it isn’t the Oscars. It’s the Golden Collar Awards.

We told you a little bit about the Golden Collar Awards when the nominees were announced (and charmingly by Uggie the Dog of The Artist, pictured above), but just in case you need a refresher, this year marks the First Annual Dog News Daily Golden Collar Awards, in which all of the hardworking canines in Hollywood will be honored for their contributions to the world of cinema and television. And yesterday, the awards themselves were unveiled!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brigitte, the French Bulldog who plays Stella on Modern Family, and Lambchop, the Chihuahua/Poodle mix who plays Yakult on Suburgatory, unveiled the awards at a press conference at the Hyatt Regency in Century City, Los Angeles. And guess what? The awards are, in fact, golden collars!

The collar designer, Simon Tavassoli, told the Hollywood Reporter that since the awards were only conceived of in January, he had to work extremely quickly. The six golden collars are made of Italian leather and Swarovski crystals. How haute!

Brigitte and Lambchop, who have both have been nominated for Best Dog in a Television Series, posed for pictures with the newly-unveiled collars, though they refused to reveal their Golden Collar outfits. No doubt they’ll have quite a day of pampering ahead of them before the awards on February 13.
