The Continuing Adventures of Mariah Yeater and the Justin Bieber Paternity Case
Remember how yesterday we found out that Maria Yeater’s paternity suit against Justin Bieber had been dropped? Well, apparently it’s not over yet…
Thought you’d heard the last of Mariah Yeater? Yeah, we did too… until we discovered that after her lawyers in the Justin Bieber paternity case abandoned her, she’s gotten new lawyers. And guess what? She still wants a DNA test from the Biebs.
Lady! Just let it go!
According to People, Mariah is now attempting to pursue her claim out of court. One of her new lawyers, Jeffrey M. Leving, said, “We’re negotiating with Bieber’s counsel, to reach a confidentiality agreement and to get private testing and results.” Interestingly, not only does Leving believe Mariah, but moreover, he’s convinced that her life is in danger. “I just spoke to Mariah today, someone was recently stalking her,” he told People. “She is happy that she changed her number so she’s not getting death threats by phone. She’s a young 20-year-old mother who now has to worry about her safety and her child’s. It’s a lot for any woman that age to handle.”
Okay. Yes. I’ll give her that. Stalking is no joke. But by the same token… Really? I mean, really?
Justin’s people, meanwhile, have continued to reiterate that the Biebs isn’t a baby daddy. According to People, spokesman Matthew Hiltzik hasn’t said anything specifically about the case’s withdrawl; however, he did say, “As we’ve said from the beginning, it’s sad that someone would fabricate such a malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claim. We’ll continue to consider all of our options to protect Justin.”
And just in case there weren’t enough twists in this case, there’s also this: TMZ has allegedly discovered some texts that Mariah sent to a friend in which she begged him to erase another text—one that features her mother saying that someone who definitely isn’t Bieber is the baby daddy. Not only that, but the text Mariah sent promises to give the friend a cut of the action when (though perhaps that should really be “if”) she wins a payout. Check out the image here:
TMZ reported that the mystery friend has already shared this information with Justin’s lawyer, Howard Weitzman. Weitzman told them, “This information proves Mariah Yeater fabricated the story. Our independent investigation indicates Ms. Yeater never met Justin, she has consistently identified another man as the child’s father, and Ms. Yeater and her co-conspirators hatched this scheme in order to extort money from him and to sell her story to the media.” Furthermore, “There have been no settlement discussions and there never will be,” he added.
And so it goes. It just keeps getting crazier, doesn’t it? Looks like there’s still a story to unfold here—we’ll just have to wait to see what happens next…
