Did you know that today is National Coffee Break Day? Finally a day to celebrate the drink that gets us and keeps us going. Before you grab that next cup, here’s a couple of cool coffee facts for you. Did you know that coffee was first discovered when goatherds in Ethiopia saw goats dancing?They investigated and found that the goats were munching coffee berries, so they tired it and liked it too!
In 1675, the King of England attempted to ban coffeehouses because he felt that the people in them were conspiring against him.
Coffee grows on trees and is a bright red berry.
A recent study found that women who drink coffee have a lower chance of becoming depressed than women who don’t drink coffee.
Here are some tasty coffee recipes and coffee-flavored treats for you. Since this delish day lands on a Friday, we’ve got some after-work coffee cocktails too!
Daytime
Coffee Cocoa
1 cup hot brewed Eight O’Clock Colombian Coffee
1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 Tablespoon white sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
***whipped cream optional (but tasty)

Yogurt
Want a bit of coffee in a healthy snack? Check out coffee flavored yogurt from Emmi. This Swiss-style yogurt has only 170 calories and has Vitamins A and C, calcium and is tranfat free.
After work coffee cocktails
Almond Coffee
2 oz Kanon Organic Vodka
3 oz hot espresso
1 oz Orgeat (almond syrup)
EFFEN-Ccino – Created by David Nepove – National President, U.S. Bartender’s Guild
1 part EFFEN® Vodka
1 part Kahlúa® Liqueur
¾ parts Dekuyper® Peppermint Schnapps Liqueur
1 part Half + Half
Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a cocktail glass dusted with EFFEN®-ccino Power Mix (see recipe below).
EFFEN®-ccino Power Mix
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Finely Ground Espresso
Combine ingredients in small bowl and mix until blended.
Molinari Retró (Molinari is a Sambuca liqueur)
1.5 oz Molinari Caffè
1.5 oz whisky cream liqueur
1 oz amaretto
double cream on top, how much – according to your taste
cocoa powder sprinkled on top –serve in balloon glass
Molilatte
2 oz Molinari Caffè
2 oz fresh milk
Directions: Shake with ice and strain into martini glass.

2-1/2 oz Van Gogh Dutch Caramel Vodka
1/2 oz Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka
1/4 oz House-made caramel sauce
1 oz Vanilla ice cream, softened
Garnished with a cholive
Add all ingredients into a shaker and shake vigorously to ensure the caramel is well blended. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with a cholive.
