Summer’s Hottest, Fun + Sexiest Nail Trends
We checked in with Samira, owner of Beverly Hills nail salon Bellacures and got the 411 on what the coolest nail colors and trends are for summer.
Now’s the time to lighten up! We’re talking about your nails. Summer’s colors are dazzling metallics, hotter than hot brights and cool nail art.
Samira, owner of Bellacures, has seen the nail art trend blow up. She says, “ Those who would never even get a bright color are now rocking one sparkly ring finger, or picking a color tone and getting each shade of it ascending on each fingernail. With the new Pinterest boom, we are seeing more interest in unique nail arts, designs and bright popping colors than ever before! If you want to rock something fun this summer, think of your favorite theme and get it on your nails!”

Summer’s Top Nail Colors
There’s so much to choose from this summer. It’s not just one color that’s hot; there’s a whole range of shades. Samira says, “The more pop, the better! This year colors and sparkles that pop are what are hot. At the salons, we are seeing more people making their mark with brightness, whether it is a pair of neon sandals or some reflector-like nail polish. At Bellacures, we love this! We believe that the happier the colors on your nails the better your mood through the week. “

Keeping Your Nails Healthy This Summer!
Samira is busting beauty myths! She says, “Many people think that they need to wear nail strengtheners 3 times a day to infuse proteins and strength into those nail beds. The fact is that nail polish stays on healthy nail beds. The health of your nail beds is directly related to your diet and vitamin intake. If you are dehydrated, so are your nail beds (and probably your hair). If you are an oily gal, then beware, your nail polish will peel faster than your non-oily peers. The best tips for healthy nails is to drink a lot of water, take your omega fish oil vitamins daily, make sure you have enough calcium, and if your nails need desperate repair make a visit to Whole Foods and get yourself some biotin! Biotin vitamins will not just help your nails, but also your hair!”
Here are her other nail care tips:
1. Wash dishes with gloves on
2. Moisturize daily–use a hand cream that has a cuticle treatment in it. We like J.R. Watkins Hand and Cuticle Salve, Deborah Lippmann’s Rich Girl Hand Cream with SPF, and SpaRitual’s Handprint Hand Salve.
3. If you have extra dry hands and cuticles, apply hand cream/cuticle care at night and wear gloves. You can also add some oils to your cream for extra moisture: argon oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, coconut oil or macadamia oil. Take your pick!
4. Keep your hands soft between manicures with do it yourself exfoliation. Mix 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of grapeseed oil and 1/2 cup of argon oil for an amazing at home scrub to get your hands into shape! You can use the same formula with salt for your feet.
