The annual Met Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is the perfect celebrity date night event. The hottest stars are invited to attend in their best black tie attire and mingle with one another… or just act all lovey-dovey with their famous other halves.

This year was no exception, as a whole slew of Hollywood lovebirds came out to showcase their designer duds and pay homage to the late, great designer Alexander McQueen. Here are some of the sizzling couples we spotted on the red carpet:

Alicia Keys and hubby, Swizz Beatz, left their son, Egypt, at home for the night to enjoy a grown-up’s fancy night out.

There’s nothing funny about how great the comedy power couple, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett looked last night.

Perhaps Claire Danes wore gold to remind of us of all the statues she won during award season for her role in Temple Grandin. We’re sure her husband, Hugh Dancy, feels like he’s won with her on his arm.

Speaking of award winners, Oscar winner Colin Firth was all smiles as his wife, Livia Giuggioli, lovingly looked at him.
