Before Elvis was making teenage girls faint, there was Eddie Fisher. The singer was wildly popular with the gals in the 1950s, singing tunes about love like "Thinking of You," and "Count Your Blessings." He had 32 hit songs during his successful career, according to Huffington Post.

Of course, Fisher had his fair share of scandal. He was married to Debbie Reynolds, then divorced her to marry Elizabeth Taylor. Then, she divorced him to be with Richard Burton, and Fisher went on to have three more marriages. He had two children, Carrie Fisher and Todd Fisher, with Debbie Reynolds (Carrie played Princess Leia in the first three Star Wars films), and two girls with Connie Stevens, his third wife.

On Wednesday night, Eddie Fisher passed away at the age of 82 in his home in Berkeley, CA. His daughter, Tricia Leigh Fisher, told the Associated Press he died of complications from hip surgery, according to Huffington Post. The Fisher family has released the following statement:

"Late last evening the world lost a true America icon. One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch."
