Sad news today: Selena Gomez’s mother suffered a miscarriage at the end of last week.

Selena revealed on Twitter only three weeks ago that her mother, Mandy Dawn Cornett, was expecting a child with Brian Teefey. Mandy married Brian when Selena was five, and this would have been their first child together.

The Disney star was in the audience at Power 106’s Cali Christmas 2011 concert in L.A. on Friday when the news reached her. Although Selena had intended to perform at two concerts over the weekend (one in Chicago and another in Seattle), she understandably left immediately and headed home to be with her family. No word on whether boyfriend Justin Bieber went with her.
