Guess what, ladies? There’s yet another reason to love Ryan Gosling: He’s taking ballet lessons. Even better? He’s not taking them to prep for a role or anything; he’s taking them just because he can. Awesome? Just a bit.

According to Female First, Ryan’s private instructor, Jaclyn Behtan, said, “He wanted to learn ballet. He said he loved it so much. It’s funny because he is such a dude’s dude. He’ll come in in basketball shorts, grab the bar, and go.”

Speaking of basketball shorts, the ballet appears to be improving his ball game as well; Jaclyn went on to say, “His turns have improved and he’s a really good jumper.”

Well, good for him; expanding one’s horizons are an important part of life that far too many people neglect. Ryan has noted in the past that if everyone in Hollywood had jobs outside of the industry, they’d probably be a heck of a lot happier; according to him, “They have meals. They go to Pilates. But it’s not enough. So they do drugs. If everybody had a pile of rocks in their backyard and spent every day moving them from one side of the yard to the other, it would be a much happier place.” Pile of rocks? Ballet? Same difference.
