Robert Pattinson, Serious Musician?
Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson wants to record an album. Thoughts on this?
Just seeing Robert Pattinson in the Twilight movies isn’t enough for you? Well, have no fear; pretty soon, you’ll be able to listen to his dulcet tones wherever you are, whenever you want, because RPatt is getting ready to record an album.
“Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn’t allow it,” an insider told Us Weekly. Since he’s got a little bit of spare time at the moment before going back to promoting Breaking Down, now seems as good a time as any.
I suppose I really shouldn’t be so surprised; after all, he’s contributed fairly frequently to the soundtracks of the Twilight movies, and these days, loads of actors like to spend a little time trying on the rock star hat. Part of me, though, still thinks somewhat skeptically, “Really, Rob? I mean, I know you’re really broken up about losing out on the Jeff Buckley biopic—and to Reeve Carney, of all people—but is this really the answer?”

According to Us Weekly, Rob plans on it being “guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop.” Need a more specific comparison? Think “stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison.” So, this:
Crossed with this:
Only not as finished-sounding? Okay. Fair enough.
Us Weekly also said that he’s been trying to learn some other instruments in preparation—piano, horns, and so on—so at least he’s challenging himself and trying something new. Maybe I’ll give it a shot, whenever it comes out. Maybe. Just maybe.
Tell us: Would you buy a Robert Pattinson album?
