In Twilight he sparkled, but in real life Robert Pattinson fizzles rather than sizzles when it come to picking up women.

"Robert is very shy and quiet," a pal says of the 23-year-old, who has hired security guards to deal with his crazed female fans. "He likes to party, but his kind of partying and Hollywood partying are two very different things. Rob likes to hear live music or great DJs in places he can relax - not crazy, loud or giant nightclubs. He's a very normal guy and likes to blend in."

And when it comes to women, his friend says Robert "would be a bit of a sad case without his fame." The movie vampire "is not a lady killer at all. He's so shy that he usually has very little to say to the women who approach him. He doesn't know what to say, but if he feels comfortable at all, he makes awkward or very dirty jokes. Most girls are shocked when he does that. Lucky for him his good looks save him when he does open his mouth."
