Road Test: NYX Cosmetics Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in Evergreen
Just in time for the holiday season comes NYX Cosmetics’ fabulous new Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in four gorgeous evergreen shades.
I don’t do my nails very often, but when I do, I like to go with slightly unorthodox colors. That’s why I was so psyched to find not one, not two, but four bottles of NYX Cosmetic’s new Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish ($4.00, nyxcosmetics.com) in a set of smashing evergreen hues waiting in our mailbox!
NYX is known for their high-quality, professional-grade makeup and incredibly wide shade selection, and these snazzy new nail polishes are no exception. They’ve got that pricey, high-gloss look you want, but at four bucks a pop, they’re wallet-friendly, too. To sweeten the deal (not that it really needs sweetening, but still), these pretty green shades are also seasonally appropriate: now that we’re on the other side of Halloween, we’re starting to gear up for the holidays—and what better way to do it than with winter wonderland-inspired nails?
I tested out NYX’s Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in four colors. Two of them, the dark Hunter Green and the lighter Lux Green, had smooth, milky finishes, while the other two, shiny green and blue shades called Enchanted Forest and Be Jeweled, glittered with subtle sparkles. They were all gorgeous, and they only needed one coat to show off their rich colors. Another thing they had going for them is this: I tend to be pretty rough on my nails—somehow I always manage to chip them within a day of doing them—but NYX’s fab formula stuck around for an entire week before starting to show the wear and tear. Now that’s what I call staying power.
The best part? You can mix and match the colors to create your own shade. I layered the glittery Enchanted Forest shade over the creamy Lux Green one, and I ended up with shimmery emerald-colored nails—the perfect accessory to finish off your favorite holiday party outfit!
NYX’s Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish comes in a whopping 144 shades, though, so if green isn’t your thing, never fear; there are plenty of other colors to choose from. So pick your favorite and go to town!
