The awards have been handed out and the parties are over, but the reviews of Ricky Gervais' performance as host of the awards show are still rolling in. The actor insulted everyone from Charlie Sheen, to Robert Downey, Jr. and even -gasp- Angelina Jolie, and even his own boss for that night - Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Philip Berk!
"Mr Gervais’s jibes at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association divided the room... It was Mr Gervais’ second chance to host the Golden Globes; he may not get a third," the New York Times said.
Some found Ricky's jabs at Hollywood rumors about Scientologists funny. "Also not nominated, I Love You Phillip Morris. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay, so the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists then," he joked.

"He was actually incredibly funny. Sometimes Americans take themselves far too seriously - he only made fun of what is glaringly obvious to those of us who have a brain and think outside of the whitewashed world of media and entertainment," "Ivan" commented in response to the Washington Post's scathing review of the performance, saying that Hollywood was brought together by its "hatred of host Ricky Gervais."
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Phillip Berk said, “He definitely crossed the line… and some of the things were totally unacceptable. But that’s Ricky."
Hugh Hefner responded rather mildly to Ricky poking fun at Hef's engagement to a woman 60 years younger than he is. "I'm used to cheap shots... It goes with the territory." Hef tweeted after the show.
So what did the comedian himself think about how his second time hosting the Globes went? "Everyone took it well," he said.
We will see next year if Ricky is back hosting for the third time - or possibly -not even invited to attend!
