Real Guys Tell: Why Men Cheat
Real cheaters explain why they do it.
The reasons men cheat usually baffle us – remember Hugh Grant picking up Divine Brown when he had Elizabeth Hurley at home? It doesn’t make sense. Or what about Christie Brinkley’s cheating ex Peter Cook – she is CHRISTIE BRINKLEY– how much better can you do buddy?! We searched high and low for some real guys who are really cheating and asked them, why ever do you do it?
Many of the men we asked blamed disloyalty on their insecurity. Steve, 29, from Los Angeles told us, “Yes, I cheat on my girlfriend of four years. It’s never emotional. It’s usually just a hookup here and there. I guess sometimes I just feel like – honestly, I know this is so cliché, but she is too good for me and is probably going to leave one day. She is beautiful and smart and every time I hook up with someone I feel awful, but I keep doing it. She has no idea.”
“I have two girlfriends,” Tyler from West Hollywood tells us. “They have no idea. I see both of them every night. I usually hook up with one early and one later. One usually thinks I am working late or doing stuff with guys and then the other one thinks I have an early morning, so I go see the other one.”
We were shocked at this guy’s technique. “What about holidays?” I asked him, “Like what the heck do you do on Valentine’s Day?”
“I always work it out,” Tyler said, who has had this act going for a year and a half! “I honestly just feel like I’m looking out for me and having my bases covered. I hate being alone.”
Some of the men we talked to said they do it just because they can!
Mark, 32, from Brooklyn, was juggling four girlfriends. He was a lounge manager and in charge of the schedule. He was dating four of his employees, and put them all on different shifts.
Then “I got busted,” he tells us, because “I was moving to California and one of the girls was crying because I was moving, and another one was coming in early for her shift and asked girlfriend #1 why she was crying, and she said, ‘Mark is leaving,’ and the other one said, ‘Wait, my Mark?’ I was so busted – thank goodness I was leaving the next day to move across the country,” he shares.
