Outfits for the End of the World: What Would You Wear?
Would your ideal end-of-the-world outfit be totally practical, totally glam… or both?
-The Betty Editors
In honor of 12/21/12, we decided to focus on the important things… like what we’d wear on the last day of the world!
Lucia Peters, Associate Editor:
I’m fairly certain that even if the 21st IS the end of the world, we’ll end up in some kind of post-apocalyptic scenario. As such, I’m going with practicality: Hefty boots, layers for warmth—and just a little bit of flair. Just because it’s the end of the world doesn’t mean we can’t still look fabulous, right?

Diana Denza, contributor:
My end of the world ensemble has to be stylish yet practical. Since I’m known to favor dresses and tights over pants, I’d want to stick with a cute (and cozy!) sweater dress. I’d spruce it up with a silky patterned scarf and heeled boots –hey, it is the apocalypse, so I might as well go down in style. One thing I wouldn’t run screaming from the house without is an oversized tote like this one from LeSportsac. I’d stow a coat, lipstick, cherished belongings, and makeshift weapons inside, just in case we’re attacked by zombies. You can never be too prepared!
Ella Moss Leo tie-waist tunic sweater ($220, ellamoss.com), Baudelaire Collection scarf ($87.50, shop.bettyconfidential.com), Berkshire cable knit tights ($11, macys.com), Lexeee black leather boot ($101.99, stevemadden.com), LeSportsac travel tote ($108, macys.com).
April Daniels Hussar, Editorial Director:
If this is some kind of rorschach test then I’ve obviously failed because I came up with the most impractical outfit! If this is the last thing I get to wear then I want it to be totally glam. All the better to sip champagne and eat bon bons!
kate spade new york ‘charm’ slingback pump ($325, Nordstrom.com), Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel ($198.50, Perfume.com), Lela Rose Lace Bustier Dress ($1695, Nordstrom.com), Tarte maracuja divine shine lip gloss in “Amused” ($21, tartecosmetics.com), Jasper Druzy Gold Necklace (on sale for $68 from $139!, bettyconfidential.shop.com).
