Beautiful People

How many times have you heard someone say, when describing the way they met their significant other, "I looked across the room and fell in love with their ...personality???" Probably never. Superficial or not, looks obviously play a factor in who we choose to date, so is it smart or shallow to date according to your attractiveness?

Sites like beautifulpeople.com caters to only the ridiculously good looking, while "aesthetically challenged" daters can hop onto sites like TheUglyBugBall.com, a site which is even celebrating its first engagement for "ugly" couple Tom Clifford and Janine Walker. So is dating by looks a good or bad idea? (YourTango)

Dating by looks is a really bad idea. If you want to have a fling with a hottie, great; otherwise, forget it. Most beautiful people are used to being fawned over, so they're kind of obnoxious. And there's always the chance someone will hit on them.

These dating sites are gross, though.

Hate to say it, but some people on the beautiful site have a very high opinion of themselves! They could just as well be on the ugly site, which is really not ugly but ordinary.

i think human should care about both side his or her personality and second his or her looking because first thing that attract you to some one is their face so by normal face and best behavier you can hunt beautiful one...........so try to have both togather

There were some attractive people on the beautiful site, but not everyone IMHO. The ugly site had some attractive people too- so weird. These sites are cheesy, and reaffirms the fact that I'm so happy I'm not single!
Nothing against single people, of course! Gotta kiss a coupla frogs before finding the prince :)

A friend of mine sent in my picture from my computer to Beautifulpeople.com without my knowledge. I was "voted in" - I was furious and promptly removed my profile. I'm 56 years old and it was a professional photo that looks a lot better than I do. I would not want to be associated with a website for "beautiful people" - what does that say about one's ego? Most of the people on these websites are so full of themselves, it's ridiculous. Their whole lives revolve around their outward appearance and they don't have enough sense to get out of the rain. Give me brains any day.............and oh, I'm a member of Mensa, too.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone finds the same things ugly or attractive, so these sites are pointless.

I look at it this way - if you are such a narcissist that you think you belong only on a site for "beautiful people", I think you deserve to get stuck with an equally narcissistic partner. As my brother-in-law frequently says "Why ruin two relationships?"
