Oh No! Alex Trebek Had a Heart Attack! (Thankfully, He’s Recovering)
Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek suffered a heart attack this weekend—but thankfully, he’s doing okay now!
Ack! Tragedy! Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek was rushed to the hospital on Saturday after suffering a heart attack! Noooooo!
Oh, wait—he’s apparently in recovery and doing just fine. Thank goodness!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 71-year-old game show icon was admitted into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA on Saturday. The heart attack was apparently mild, and he’s currently on the mend. Sony Pictures Television, which currently produces Jeopardy!, released a statement on Sunday saying, “Trebek is in good spirits and is currently under observation and undergoing further testing. He is expected to fully recover and be back at Jeopardy! When production begins taking in July for the new season, the show’s 29th.”
Jeopardy! has been airing for on and off for a whopping 58 years. It first debuted in 1964, and Alex took the reigns as its host in 1984. This isn’t the first heart attack he’s had; he suffered a small one back in December of 2007 and returned to the show in just a few weeks. He’s also been in a major car crash in 2004, and he snapped his Achilles tendon in 2011 while chasing a burglar who raided his San Francisco hotel room while he was hosting the National Geographic World Championship. But the show must go on, no?
Get well soon, Alex! Someone’s got to fill the gaping hole in our lives with Daily Doubles!
