Over the past few months, celebs-turned-cover girls have been gracing the pages of our favorite magazines to carry the banner for women who have decided to do it for themselves.

Last week, Kim Kardashian made the cover of Life & Style Weekly for an article that uncovered her inner struggle after being forced to choose between the love of her life and the career of her dreams. The twice-divorced Drew Barrymore covered the August issue of Elle, where she openly declared that "If you're 35 and single and it's a choice, it feels fine." Rounding out the trifecta was the highly coveted September issue of Vogue, which was covered by a coy yet chic Halle Berry, who boasts that while she is done with marriage, she's "not done with love but [she] refuse[s] to settle."

In late 2008, Beyonce's alter ego, aka Sasha Fierce, admonished all the single ladies to put their hands up, and ringless left hands flew up all across the world. Single women, celebrities and civilians alike, had a new anthem and were no longer afraid to flaunt their unattached status. Women who had decided to choose love of self over loving Mr. Close Enough were being celebrated in pop culture, making the decidedly single the modern day "it-chicks."

From the permanently unwed, (read, Oprah Winfrey) to the newly solo (Hello, Sandra Bullock!), single celebs are advancing a new chapter of women's rights-- the right to be single, and HAPPY.
