See this car? It’s a vintage Mercedes-Benz 280SL from 1970. And yes, that’s John Travolta at the wheel, because this lovely car happens to be his. Or at least, it WAS his… until someone jacked it right off the street yesterday.

Yep: Mr. Saturday Night Fever got stranded in the middle of Santa Monica after someone stole his car right out from under his nose. The irony of it all is that the reason he was in Santa Monica in the first place was to visit a car dealership. The Daily Mail reported that Travolta had only stepped away from his car for a mere 10 minutes while he was at the dealership; but when he came back, it was gone. After he discovered it missing, he headed back to the dealership to wait for the cops.

Oh, did I mention that the car is worth $100,000?

But hey, at least Travolta is a car enthusiast, so he’s got a couple of other vehicles squirreled away that he can use until he gets the Benz back. What do you think he’ll drive next? The Rolls? The Jag? Or how about one of the Thunderbirds? He’s got T-birds from each of 1955, 1956, and 1957, so at least he’s got plenty of options.

Travolta, by the way, was visiting a Jaguar dealership when the Benz vanished. So here’s a theory: Maybe the car felt betrayed by its owner for checking out a different manufacturer than its own make? Hey, stranger things have happened!
