Miley Cyrus has been a bad, bad girl lately – and she just keeps on misbehaving. From her nude Vanity Fair cover to her Salvia bong scandal to her recent 15-years-older love interest John Mayer, the former Ms. Hannah Montana seems to be on a downward spiral. Where is this naughtiness coming from and how can it be stopped before Miley puts herself in real danger? Two therapists weigh in and tell BettyConfidential how the 18-year-old starlet can get the help she so desperately needs.

Both Dr. Carole Lieberman, M.D. and Dr. Gilda Carle, Ph.D. believe that the people who can help Miley the most are also the people that are hurting her the worst – her parents. While Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus are in the midst of a bitter divorce, they’ve neglected the child that needed them the most.

“She is totally out of control,” Dr. Carole, a psychiatrist and author of Bad Boys: Why We Love Them, How To Live with Them and When to Leave Them tells BC. “As her parents divorce has been progressing, she’s been deteriorating. Before it became known that they had filed, she was suffering under the strain of their separation and the problems at home that inevitably lead to the divorce. She was already beginning to spin out of control and now that her parents are preoccupied with their own life and problems, she’s been left adrift. No one seems to be watching her or taking care of her or acknowledging that she needs to be taken care of – which is making her seek out attention any way she can.”

Agrees Dr. Gilda, an internationally renowned relationship expert and therapist, “She needs parents who care more about her than their own bickering. They need to attend to their daughter and find out what she really needs.”

One thing Miley needs the most is a dad who’s actually there for her 100 percent of the time – one reason she may have turned to 33-year-old John Mayer for sexual healing. “She’s really looking for a daddy,” says Carle. “Her daddy must be present emotionally for her so she doesn’t have to move in on some guy who’s made his rounds in Hollywood. Hooking up with a guy who’s too old for her is not the best thing for her right now…in the long run it’s going to make her feel like a piece of meat.”
