Video: Meet Ree Drummond, the Food Network’s Newest Star!
Ree’s incredibly popular blog, ‘Confessions of a Pioneer Woman’ is now a delicious new show.
Ree Drummond’s blog Confessions of a Pioneer Woman started out as a personal blog and blossomed into one of the most popular sites on the Internet. There’s a little bit of everything: oft-times hilarious slices of life on an Okalahoma cattle ranch, mouth-watering recipes, photography, Adobe how-to’s, and more. Okay, confession here: I stumbled upon her blog months ago and now it’s one of my daily reads. This from a woman who has only pet a cow once. By accident.
Ree’s been a guest chef on The Today Show a bazillion times. Now you can catch her starring in her own show, The Pioneer Woman, every Saturday, 11:30 am ET, on the Food Network. Each show is gorgeously filmed. The episodes are filled with recipes like perennial favorite Chicken Fried Steak, Perfect Pot Roast, lemon blueberry pancakes and more. You may not cook, but, trust me, you’ll love watching the show.
I recently had the chance to chat with Ree inside one of the test kitchens at the Food Network. I got her to do her famous Ethel Merman impression, talk about how she beats her husband in skeet shooting competitions, and chat about what beginning cooks need to know.
Here are some of Ree’s tips:
• It’s not rocket science. Cooking shouldn’t be intimidating.
• Stock your pantry and fridge with staples: Items like onions, peppers, carrots, large cans of tomatoes, tomato paste, spices and other basic ingredients.
• Anything you do regularly, you will improve at.
Want to check out more of Ree’s recipes? Pick up her cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks ($16.66, amazon.com)! Also, her first children’s book, Charlie The Ranch Dog ($9.99, amazon.com), is about her real lifer Basset Hound, Charlie. And wait! There’s one more book! From Black Heels to Tractor Wheels- A Love Story ($14.93, amazon.com) is a funny, sweet and romantic memoir about how Ree ended up a rancher’s wife.
And don’t forget to catch her show, The Pioneer Woman, Saturdays, 11:30 ET on The Food Network.
