Meet Mad Men’s Newest Woman!
Naturi Naughton debuts this Sunday.
Actress/singer Naturi Naughton, who starred in the remake of Fame, will guest star on this week’s episode of Mad Men as a woman who’s “sexy, but demands respect.”
Naughton, interviewed by AOL Black Voices, said her character also has chemistry with some of the Mad Men. “It’s going to be one of those ‘wow’ episodes,” she said in the interview. Although some of the show’s main characters have discussed the civil-rights movement, the only black actress to appear consistently has been the Drapers’ maid, Carla, played by actress Deborah Lacey. Naughton, 26, didn’t say anything more about her role on the award-winning show, and the Mad Men website is typically not giving anything away.
But Naughton did say she enjoyed wearing the show’s mid-60s fashions. “I wear clip-on earrings, some with large jewels,” she told the website. Her hair is styled in a “bouffant bump” that comes down “into a flip.” I have a bit of a bang that swoops to one side with a curl at the end and an undefined part. With the clothes and the hair I kind of felt like I was one of The Supremes! I wanted to sing, ‘Stop! In the Name of Love.’”
Sounds perfect. (blackvoices)
