Betty Confidential: What was the inspiration for the look?

Jo Strettell: I was inspired by Lena’s dress, a rich, dark plum, corseted Zac Posen gown with heavy matte satin off the shoulders and a flowing, weighted skirt. Lena’s boyish haircut and fresh, fair skin was also an inspiration as well.

BC: Why go with a natural look?

JS: We wanted to complement the chic glamour of the dress and Lena’s freshness. That’s why I wanted to go with natural dewy skin with an ever-so-subtle punk-type eye, a flush of her cheeks, and a nude lip.

BC: How long did the look take to complete?

JS: The whole look took about 50 minutes! I like to spend time perfecting a flawless base that will last all night and like to build the eye makeup slowly so I can see when it’s exactly done.
