Once again, Neil Patrick Harris proved that he’s one of Hollywood’s best award show hosts. He was affable, funny and kept the show moving along. One of his bits was to try to do as many Spiderman musical jokes in 30 seconds. Harris started off with, “It’s too easy to do Spiderman jokes...” and then he did six before the buzzer went off. The Book of Mormon won nine TONYs; Frances McDormand won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for Good People; and Ellen Barkin won Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play. But enough about the honors, let's talk dresses!
Black and white gowns were the big trend of the night, whether they were slit up to there, long sleeved, strapless or ruched. The non-color colors ruled the night. Which celebs won our best and worst dressed of the night? Read on...
But first...
IN A CLASS BY HERSELF
Whoopi Goldberg

Um, what can you say about this outfit on Whoopi? Looks like Whoopi borrowed a costume from Charley’s Aunt.

BEST DRESSED!
Anika Noni Rose

A beautiful voice, a multi-talented actress, and Anika Noni Rose’s outfit is the epitome of cool chic summer.
Nikki M. James

When Nikki M. James won the TONY for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her work in The Book of Mormon, she gave a heartfelt speech and ended it up saying, “I’m really grateful that no one told me that I couldn’t do it…” And no one has to tell her how to dress either. She looked stunning in a strapless red column gown with a sexy slit.
Ellen Barkin

Talk about sex on a stick! 50-something Ellen Barkin who won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for her role in The Normal Heart, proves that the older you get, the sexier you get too.
Edie Falco

We’re so used to seeing Edie Falco with short hair in Nurse Jackie, that it was a bit of a shock to see her with long hair. She looked elegant in a one shouldered black gown and glittered with platinum gems by Stephen Russell.
Jennifer Damiano

Jennifer Damiano’s (Next to Normal, Spiderman) sunshine yellow beaded gown adds summery optimism to the glittery evening.
Tammy Blanchard

Talk about “sexy back”! Tammy Blanchard oozes sex appeal in this blue sequined gown by Georges Chakra. Tammy was nominated for the Tony Award for Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Patina Miller

Sexy back times two! Patina Miller (Sister Act: The Musical) looks stunning in a snake print (almost) backless gown.
More best dressed and some yawners, up next!
