Love It or Hate It? Pippa Middleton’s Shiny Purple Book Signing Ensemble
Pippa Middleton wore a satiny purple peplum dress to a recent launch and signing for her book, ‘Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Family and Friends.’ Love it or hate it?
Pippa Middleton’s party planning book, Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Family and Friends, may be suffering from plummeting sales in the UK, but that isn’t stopping Pippa from taking it abroad. She attended a launch party this past Tuesday in the Netherlands at Haarlem bookstore De Vries Boekhandel—to which she wore the shiny purple number seen here. What do you think, Bettys? Love it or hate it?
The long-sleeved peplum dress is by British design house Beulah London; Pippa paired it with purple suede pumps of a slightly different shade and lipstick to match. And while I kind of dig the color I’m… shall we say, not terribly taken with the dress itself. I’m not sure if it’s the satin or the sleeves; maybe it’s both, especially when taken together. It’s just a little bit too much, no? I also think she should have gone with a different lip color—this one is so matchy-matchy that it makes her look kind of like she was dressed by Barbie. Sorry, Pips!
I may not love the dress, but I do love Beulah London’s mission. Launched in 2011, its goal is to help provide a sustainable livelihood to survivors of sex trafficking. “For each beautiful garment that we make,” they write on their website, “there is an equally beautiful change happening somewhere else in the world.”
And just in case you’re a bigger fan of the dress than I am, you can buy a sleeveless version of it online (though it’ll cost you a pretty penny—it’s £450, or roughly $730):
Tell us: Do you love Pippa’s book signing look, or do you loathe it?
