Love It or Hate It? Keira Knightley in Chanel at the ‘Anna Karenina’ Premiere
Keira Knightley donned a blush-colored Chanel confection at the London premiere of ‘Anna Karenina.’ Love it or hate it?
Enthusiasts of Russian literature, rejoice: Anna Karenina is here! Starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen (who, you’ll recall, played Keira’s Mr. Darcy in 2005’s Pride and Prejudice), and a whole host of other British greats, this adaptation of Dostoevsky’s novel had its premiere in London on Tuesday night. Keira, who plays the story’s titular ill-fated heroine, wore this blush-colored confection to the event. What do you think, Bettys?
Part of Chanel’s Fall 2012 Couture collection, the gown features sheer flutter sleeves and ruffled floral details that cascade from the neckline down to the hem; a shiny belt accentuates her waist, and smoky eyes and a side-parted updo finish off the look. Notably, this is the first time we’ve seen this collection on a red carpet. For the curious, here’s how it looked on the runway:
Keira has made a few style missteps in the past (like this one. This one, too.); I’m usually willing to give her a little bit of a break most of time, though, because hey, at least she takes risks, even if those risks don’t always pay off in the end. This little number is fairly tame as far as Keira’s red carpet looks go, and I actually kind of dig it. All of the textures involved make what could be a bland, boring gown into something a little more special, and she pulls the color off wonderfully. That said, though, the skirt is a little stiff for my taste; I can’t help but wish it floated a bit more instead of just sitting there. It’s a romantic look, right? Romantic looks should float! Also I still think Keira could use a sandwich or five, but that’s neither here nor there.
Final verdict? I’ll roll with it. What about you? Tell us in the comments!
