Love It or Hate It: Amy Poehler’s Emmys Red Carpet Style

Ah, the Emmys. It’s (more or less) the kick-off to award season, when celebs and their stylists wrangle gowns from designers, wear them and then send them back. Oh, this is such a good thing, as there are red carpet dresses that should never see the light of day.
While we’re digging Amy Poehler’s black diamond earrings and ring by Martin Katz, we’re a bit confused about the dress. I swore I thought I saw it as a costume during Comic-Con, am I wrong? That royal blue screams superhero to me.
While the color is great on the blond actress, the amount of it is overpowering. The cut… well, that’s another story too. The high neckline makes her appear shorter and the short sleeves give it the grandma look. I think she was going for sophisticated and soignée and wildly missed the mark. I think I’d prefer to have seen her in one of the skating costumes she wore in Blades of Glory.
