Leonardo DiCaprio Is Up for Auction!
Leonardo DiCaprio is putting himself up for auction to help raise funds for the Haitian relief effort. An excellent auction for an excellent cause!
Remember when Colin Firth put himself up for auction back in November? Well, he seems to have started a trend, because guess what? Now Leonardo DiCaprio is following suit!
Run by CharityBuzz—the same organization that ran the Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry Barbie doll auctions in December—this auction offers you the chance to meet Leo at an upcoming premiere and to attend the premiere after party with him. The details are a little hazy (maybe Leo isn’t quite sure which premiere he’s got coming up next?), but hey. Any premiere is a good premiere to us plebeians, right? And an after party? Awesome!
CharityBuzz offers you the chance to win everything from designer merchandise to experiences with your favorite celebrities, and each winning bid raises money for well-respected charities in support of dozens of different causes. The Leo auction, which is part of the Cinema for Peace auction series, works in conjunction with the J/P Haitian Relief Organization to benefit Haiti. Founded by Sean Penn shortly after the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the J/P HRO is geared towards rebuilding the damaged nation and combating poverty within it. But it’s not just throwing up a couple of shacks and saying, “There, we helped;” no, the J/P HRO is much more hands-on. It clears roads, rebuilds houses, works on creating job programs, develops public health programs, and works alongside Haiti’s people and government to help solve the country’s problems one step at a time.
The auction runs until 3pm EST on Thursday, February 9, 2012. The high bid is currently $7,500, and the minimum next bid is $8,000. Got some cash to burn? Place your bids here. We promise you won’t regret it!
