What does Justin Timberlake consider to be the most memorable day of his life? They day he spent disguised as Ernie from Sesame Street.

Perhaps this bears some explanation. Timberlake made an appearance this year at nerd extravaganza San Diego Comic-Con to promote his upcoming film, In Time. The superstar is used to getting mobbed every time he goes out in public, but that doesn’t mean he likes it—so he and Esquire journalist Chris Jones came up with a solution: They donned a couple of Bert and Ernie costumes and spent the day wandering around the convention with no fear of being tackled by the public. Talk about hiding in plain sight!

That’s not to say that Timberlake didn’t get his picture taken, though admittedly he sometimes forgot why it was happening in this particular instance. “I keep forgetting, when people ask to take our picture it’s because I’m Ernie,” he told Jones, according to People. “It’s not because I’m me.”

Why Bert and Ernie? That’s a little unclear. Maybe they just happened to stumble upon a spare set of Sesame Street costumes. Who knows. Whatever the reason, though it doesn’t seem to be connected to the film Timberlake was promoting; sci-fi flick In Time takes place in a future dystopia where the aging gene has been “switched off,” forcing people to pay in order to stay alive. Scary!

In Time also stars Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Galecki and Vincent Kartheiser. Catch in cinemas this October!
