The Portuguese edition of Playboy has been canceled after a scandalous photoshoot featuring a man posing as Jesus among topless models was splashed across the cover of its July issue. Perhaps the editors thought a long-haired glowing Jesus standing next to a prostitute, watching two lesbian models grope each other, and watching a woman read over her shoulder was some kind of artistic genius, but Hugh Hefner was not amused.

‘We did not see or approve the cover and pictorial in the July issue of Playboy Portugal. It is a shocking breach of our standards and we would have not allowed it to be published if we had seen it in advance,” Playboy spokesperson Theresa Hennessy said in a statement. Perhaps another way to pay tribute to Nobel Prize winning author Jose Saramago’s The Gospel According to Jesus Christ would have worked better. (Daily Mail)
