Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sophia Bush and Katrina Bowden Backstage at Max Azria Fall 2011 Fashion Show
The scene backstage at Max Azria’s Fall 2011 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was a whirlwind of celebrities and hot runway beauty.
It was quite a scene backstage at the Fall 2011 Max Azria show. You would never know it was a Sunday afternoon – the models, makeup artists, hairstylists and media were in full-on work mode. Everyone was rushing to get ready for the big show, so good luck if you happened to get in anyone’s way.
The designer himself was on-hand giving interviews and answering questions about his sophisticated fall line, which consisted of dark menswear pieces in brown, olive, and black mixed with a few bright, feminine colors like orange (the menswear trend is still in, Bettys!). Azria’s celebrity fans—Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sophia Bush and Katrina Bowden—came to show their support for their fave designer. Of course, the photographers went nuts trying to capture the ladies from every single angle.
For as frenzied as the atmosphere was, the models’ hair and makeup looked sleek, polished and perfect for the Max Azria runway. Charlotte Willer, Maybelline’s Global Makeup Artist, created the simple, effortless makeup look, which included Maybelline’s new FIT Foundation, smokey eye shadow on the lids, lip balm and a nude lipstick (No mascara!).
For the hair, stylist Neil Moodie created a “tomboyish ponytail.” He wanted the look to mirror the masculine-meets-feminine feel of Max’s collection. “We’re prepping the hair with Bumble & Bumble Prep Spray, Thickening Spray and Styling Lotion and then blowdrying that in using a large round brush,” he explained. “Then, were tying the hair into a very tight ponytail just below the crown. We’re running flatirons through the ponytail – not to make the hair completely flat, but to smooth out any fly-aways and make the hair look really gorgeous and luscious. Then, we’re adding Bumble & Bumble Shine Spray to the top.”
The final look was flattering and sexy—something that anyone could pull off at home in a reasonable amount of time—and it meshed well with Azria’s subdued, menswear-inspired collection!
