From Odd Job to Le Chiffre, no one does villains quite like James Bond does, and now that the as yet unnamed 23rd Bond film is finally going into production, we’ve got a whole new crop of bad guys to look forward to. But for months, we’ve been asking just one question: who exactly would be playing the next dastardly Bond villain? Finally, though, we have an answer: Spanish actor (and hottie) Javier Bardem!

Though Bardem occasioanlly plays leading men—he recently romanced Julia Roberts in 2010’s Eat, Pray, Love—we already know he plays one helluva bad guy: He won an Oscar in 2007 for his performance as Anton Chigurh, the serial killer with the unfortunate haircut, in the Coen Brothers flick No Country for Old Men.

Alas, he can’t give us any details on his Bond character yet; as is tradition with Bond films, everything is being kept tightly under wraps, from the title to the actors. But hey, Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem being directed by Sam Mendes can’t possibly be a bad thing, so at least there’s that!

Bardem is more than just a talented actor and a pretty face, though. He’s also been spending a lot of time working with a charity to help west Saharan refugees. More reasons to love him, no?
