It’s Official: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis Have Split
Sad news: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have officially split. Sigh.
Pardon me while I take a moment to curse. A lot. @)*$!&*)#^!#@)*^$)@!!
Anyway, it’s true: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have split after 14 years together. Apparently those rumors about how their relationship was on the rocks were actually true. And that SUCKS SO MUCH. Johnny’s publicist released a brief statement to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, saying, “Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.” They have two kids together, Lily-Rose, who is 13, and Jack, 9.
The couple first got together in 1998, when Johnny saw Vanessa sitting with a group of friends at the bar at the Costes Hotel in Paris. They never married—Vanessa once told Elle UK, “I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect… I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be—we have two kids. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without.” The family lived for many years in the French town of Plan-de-la-Tour, a home which provided them more privacy than many high-profile stars tend to have; however, they’ve recently been spending most of their time in LA, probably due to Johnny’s burgeoning career.
Not going to lie: These two were one of my favorite “Hollywood couples” (even when they weren’t living in Hollywood), largely because they were so private about their life. They’ve been fiercely protective of their children, determined to give them a life out of the spotlight as much as possible. I find that admirable. I’m sure they’ll do a fine job co-parenting, but still. It makes me sad in the same way Heidi Klum and Seal’s split did.
Anyway, I’m going to stop prying now and let Johnny and Vanessa be. Still sad, though. Sigh.
