  1. Good question Do leotards give Olympic gymnast wedgies?
Yes they do. I belive its a 5/10s deduction. at least it was under the old points system

ps- the coach says "dont pick your wedgie. we couldnt see that much of your butt anyway"

  2. It depends what you and your child are comfortable with. I teach plenty of class kids who wear tank tops/leggings instead of a leo which is a little more conservative and does not restrict movement. A leotard is not required until team level gymnastics.

  3. I can understand your concern. I'm not a parent (I'm currently 19) but there were times at practice and meets where I didn't necessarily feel comfortable with how my leotard felt. As Helen said though, a lot of leotards today are generally not very revealing. Also like they said there's always the option of shorts if either of you feels like there should be more coverage. If she decides to go competitive though that won't be an option as they aren't allowed during competitions. There are sprays (I don't remember names but I've heard hairspray works) that can be sprayed on the part of the leotard that covers the butt that prevent it from sliding up. I never used that method myself but I've heard it helps to prevent wedgies.

  4. I usually wear shorts made for gymnastics over my leo, literally nobody in my gym wears a leotard without shorts for practice.

If you're talking about wearing a leo for competition, butt glue AKA leotard glue helps to not get wedgies and you can glue the leo over the butt to cover it as well.
