This romantic proposal wasn’t supposed to make news. A Louisville area man’s intimate proposal on a hot air balloon became a horror story moments after she said yes.

Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday night, as pilot Dallas Beall attempted the land and pop open a bottle of champagne for the couple, the balloon hit a power line, according to CNN, jolted with electricity fell on the bride-to-be, seriously shocking her as well.

Her future husband jumped into action administering CPR on the pilot, until medics arrived to rescue the stranded passengers. They were transferred to an area hospital and treated for burns. The identities of the couple have not yet been released.

All three are reported to be stable, and no injuries were life-threatening but the accident undoubtedly changed the mood.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s report, the pilot had first tried to land the balloon on an overgrown patch of land only to relaunch in search of safer ground. Moments later, the power lines were struck.

Beall, owner of Dallas Jewelers for over 35 years, offers balloon rides as part of a special engagement package for clients who want an airborne setting for presenting the ring. The ride itself runs about $425.

“It’s my understanding that everyone is okay, that’s all I’m aware of,” a Dallas Jewelers representative manning the phones told Shine on Thursday.

Hopefully the dramatic turn of events hasn’t changed the couple’s plans. A lot of people make elaborate flash mob-worthy promises when they’re popping the question, but few have the unfortunate opportunity to back it up minutes later. If ever a man deserved an “I do” it’s this guy, who launched into action to save his fiancee.

Beall has not provided a statement but his website, Hot Air Dallas, says it all, advertising the ride as “a memory you’ll have forever.”

That’s an understatement.
