SAG Awards

The Golden Globe nominations have had all the big buzz today; but did you realize that the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were announced recently, too? Because they were—yesterday, as a matter of fact. Ah, awards season!

The SAG Awards are sort of the new kid in town; unlike the Golden Globes or the Academy Awards, which have both been around for decades (69 for the Golden Globes, 84 for the Oscars), the SAG Awards had their first event in 1995. The awards are given by members of the Screen Actors Guild, to members of the Screen Actors Guild, so naturally, all the categories are in acting. Another thing that sets the SAG Awards apart from the Golden Globes and the Oscars is that they honor ensemble casts and stunt ensembles as well as individual performances. Nice! Naturally, there’s a lot of overlap between these and the Golden Globes, though happily both Melissa McCarthy and Armie Hammer weren’t snubbed here. Check out the full list of nominees here:
