Good News + Bad News at Christian Siriano’s Spring Fashion Show
Sometimes you can afford what you see and sometimes you can’t at fashion shows during Merecedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Monet Mazur, Heidi Klum, Corrien Bailey Rae, Sarah Hyland, Nina Garcia and other well-heeled audience members of Christian Siriano’s spring 2012 fashion show more than likely can afford Christian’s togs when they’re hanging on a rack in Neiman’s. The rest of us … can’t. However, when it comes to hip-checking a socialite during a fight over his last pair of sandals or one of Christian’s cute bags, you’ve got it waay over that lame chick, right?
Watching his show, I was torn between ogling the accessories — shoes, bags and the occasional belt — and drooling over his higher-priced clothing.
Clothing-wise, Christian’s on the same bandwagon as a bunch of other designers when it comes to Spring… Once again, we’re seeing color: taupe, melon, acid yellow (or is it acid green? It’s that close, you know.), pink, and blue … and lots of graphic prints.
Yup, more cropped pants, pencil skirts, body con and flowy dresses. Christian loves flowers and pleated tulle overlays, and we see it here in another show. Don’t get me wrong, I do like his stuff. And I liked it (a lot) when he got out of his own way and paired a striped tee with a tulle skirt. Perfection.
His shoes and bags, on the other hand, were sexy and daring. Just check out these pics. Strappy sandals and croc embossed bags that, while pretty, will also hold all your junk. You can pick up his affordable line this spring at Payless. Just remember to wear your shin guards in case of a tussle.
