Good news! Giuliana Rancic underwent her planned double mastectomy and reconstruction on Tuesday, and it was a success! She’s currently recovering and seems to be in fine form.

Her husband Bill told E! News that “G is doing really well.” The surgery lasted about four hours and “the doctors were very pleased with the result.” He did note that Giuliana had a little bit of pain throughout the night—and no wonder! Four hours of surgery will do that to you—but that she was feeling much better in the morning. In fact, she was even cracking jokes. Good for her! It’s truly been inspirational to see how positive she’s able to remain even in the face of something as frightening as cancer.

In between wisecracks, she even found time to send out a heartfelt message to her well-wishers: “I want to thank all the viewers and fans for their support and prayers. The tweets and notes have not gone unnoticed. I am very grateful,” she said.

Giuliana made the decision to have a double mastectomy after the double lumpectomies she had already undergone failed to fully eradicate the breast cancer she was diagnosed with in October.
