First Look: The Mystery of the ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ Teaser Poster
The first poster for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues has been revealed… but, um, what’s going on with all those mismatched legs?
As you may have noticed, the first one-sheet for Anchorman 2 starring Will Ferrell appeared on Ye Olde Interwebs yesterday, prompting the following question: What the heck is going on here?
Here’s what we know from the end of the original: Sometime in the future, Brian (Paul Rudd) becomes the host of a FOX reality show called Intercourse Island (still waiting for that one to happen in real life, by the way); Brick (Steve Carrell) is a political advisor to George W. Bush; Champ (David Koechner) spent some time as a commentator for the NFL before he was fired for sexually harassing Terry Bradshaw; and Ron and Veronica (Christina Applegate) are go-anchors for something called “World News Center,” which looks essentially to be CNN.
But what does this poster for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues tell us? Well, clearly Ron and his burgundy suit are alive and well; so, too, is at least one other member of the original four-man KVWN Channel 4 News Team, as evinced by the pair of legs clad in grey slacks and black shoes. But what’s going on with those other two legs further down the line? You know, the mismatched pair? It appears that tragedy has struck! Either two members of the team have each lost a leg, or one man is wearing both styles, one on each leg—which, fashion tragedy aside, seems to indicate that something terrible may have befallen the fourth member of the team.
Or maybe it’s just a case of (most likely intentionally) bad Photoshopping. We do know that in addition to Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner are all set to return for the sequel, furthermore, according to director Adam McKay, Christina Applegate will most likely put in an appearance. Since all that covers all the men, maybe we’ve got a Photoshop of horrors here?
Well, in any case, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are hard at work writing the script right now, although somewhat ambitiously, they’ve already managed to slap together a teaser trailer. The teaser, as Ron himself so kindly told us himself a few days ago, will be showing with The Dictator:
Lookin’ good, Ron!
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is due to start shooting in February of 2013. In the meantime, have a scotch!
